EcoFlow’s Ocean Pro offers infinite energy backup for US homes
EcoFlow's new Ocean Pro offers limitless home power backup, pulling from multiple sources. It's a smart, customizable system designed for energy independence.
EcoFlow announced its Ocean Pro home energy storage option for the US market on Tuesday, as a four-part system intended to assist in power backup and energy conservation unit for homeowners.
The Ocean Pro is described as an infinite backup power option; it is the first multi-source backup solution, designed to pull energy from different sources to keep power running through events such as blackouts, storms, and peak billing rate hours. The varied power sources include solar panels, high-capacity batteries, and even gasoline generators.
While Ocean Pro can be outfitted for different residential areas, EcoFlow noted that the system “was developed with energy-stressed states like California, Texas, and Florida in mind, where electric costs, extreme weather, and aging infrastructure are driving demand for energy independence.”
The Ocean Pro includes a 40-circuit smart home panel, a 24-kilowatt inverter that is capable of powering an entire home, an EV charger that can charge cars, and a 10-kilowatt battery that can expand to 80-kilowatts. Customers can buy the whole system or purchase each part separately, except for the battery, making it a customizable energy solution. EcoFlow compares its system to the Tesla Powerwall three in terms of specifications.
EcoFlow notes that if the grid goes down, it takes just 10 milliseconds for the Ocean Pro to switch to backup power, so users don't have to experience any time without power.
The brand also developed an app that homeowners can use to monitor their energy expenditure and pricing. It uses AI-inundated weather prediction, and can also connect to smart home devices, such as thermostats, EV chargers, and smart assistants.
The Ocean Pro also allows users to sell excess energy back to power companies when batteries are fully charged, thanks to a grid-tied mode, which can be utilized in all U.S. markets. Users can take part in EcoFlow’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) network, which they can manage through the app, and determine their best return based on real-time grid conditions and electricity prices, the brand noted.
Design-wise, the Ocean Pro is available in three premium finishes, a modern aluminum style, a classic walnut color way, and a sleek carbon fiber option. The system includes several certifications that protect against the elements, including the TriShield Protection System, which provides flood resistance up to 2.6 feet and a fire prevention module, IP67-rated waterproofing, and 9540B safety certification for energy storage systems, the highest rating in the industry.
The system also includes a 15-year warranty, which extends five years beyond industry standards.
The Ocean Pro is available for pre-order as of July 15, with details on how to order through an authorized EcoFlow installation partner available on EcoFlow’s official website. The brand notes it provides free one-on-one energy consultations and has nearly 100 installation partners available to assist customers.
