Google’s 2026 Chromebook lineup includes built in AI features
Google showcased many new Chromebooks across several hardware brands with its latest AI upgrades.
Google is dedicated to continually adding AI features to its ChromeOS ecosystem. The brand showcased a host of new Chromebooks at CES 2026 last week, all which will launch running natively, features that were introduced as ChromeOS updates in 2025. These AI-centered features include Select to search with Lens, Text capture, Quick Insert key, and Help me read, in addition to having a shortcut to the Gemini app on the Chromebook desktop.
This has been Google’s ChromeOS strategy since approximately 2023, to test new features on its line of Chromebook Plus models, which was introduced in tandem with its AI feature rollout. Then the brand would make the features more widely available at a later date on the rest of its Chromebook lineup. Now several 2026 Chromebook Plus and standard Chromebook models are getting the latest AI features from Google at the same time. The netbooks come from brands including Acer, Asus, HP, and Lenovo, mixing Google’s AI-powered services with the latest tech specifications for the coming year.
