Google's new Pixel 10 lineup has even more AI and Apple-compatible Qi2 charging
Google has unveiled its Pixel 10 lineup, starring the AI-powered Tensor G5 chip and a durable new Pro Fold and packed with advanced Gemini features.
Google’s latest series of Pixel devices is now official after the brand announced the lineup at a launch event in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday. Google unveiled an impressive rundown of seven products in its showcase, including a new brand-agnostic Qi2 charger. However, the stars of the show, of course, are the smartphones. The latest lineup of mobile devices from Google includes the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The brand highlighted some notable features on the devices. Of course, the devices across the family are powered by the latest Tensor G5 chip, which helps bring several AI features to the Pixel 10 models. Senior vice president of devices, Rick Osterloh discussed with late night TV host Jimmy Fallon at the event that the Pixel 10 phone family will include the brand’s most advanced Gemini features, such as Veo video generation. The two demoed how Veo could take an image of Osterlohs’ dog and transform him into an animated podcaster campaigning for more treats. Additionally, Google will offer a deal where those who purchase the Pixel 10 Pro or Pro Fold will get one year of Google AI Pro for free, a deal originally exclusive to Chromecast launches. Allowing users better access to AI features including Veo, Notebook LM, and Gemini Flow.
Each model in the Pixel 10 family also has many of its own unique features that makes them an interesting choice of different consumers. Check out the rundown of smartphones announced at the launch event.
Pixel 10
The Pixel 10 is the primary base model in the lineup, featuring a 6.3-inch display with 3000 nits brightness. Its satin-finish metal frame gives it high durability, about twice as much as the Pixel 8. It also comes in four color options, Obsidian, Frost, Indigo and Lemongrass. As usual, Google focuses on camera quality on the Pixel 10. The smartphone includes a reimagined triple camera with a 48-megapixel wide lens, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel 5x zoom telephoto lens, in addition to a 10.5-megapixel selfie camera. Highlight camera features include 20x Super Res Zoom, which makes distance photography easier and Camera Coach, which utilizes AI to direct users into capturing the ideal shot. Hardware-wise the Pixel 10 includes 12GB of RAM, 128GB and 256GB storage, and a 4,970mAh battery.
Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL
There are two Pixel 10 Pro options, the 6.3-inch standard Pixel 10 Pro and the 6.8-inch Pixel 10 Pro XL. Google claims that the Pro models have the best displays on the market, as well as the best camera set up. It includes a 50-megapixel wide lens, 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and 48-megapixel telephoto lens, in addition to a 42-megapixel selfie camera. Highlight camera features include 100x Pro Res Zoom, which works with Google’s AI processing to bring the best zoom function on a smartphone and High-Res, studio quality portraits up to 50-megpixels. Hardware on the models includes 16GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB storage options on the Pixel 10 Pro and 256GB/512GB/1TB options on the Pixel 10 Pro XL with Zoned UFS for the largest two options, and a 4,870mAh battery for the Pixel 10 Pro and 5200mAh cell for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Google claims the devices can support 24 hours battery life. The brand also introduced its Pixelsnap wireless magnetic technology that is built into the phones, using Qi2-certification, so it also compatible with Apple’s Magsafe accessories. The Pixel 10 Pro is Qi2-certified up to 15W, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL is certified up to 25W to allow Pixelsnap to work. Running Android 16 out of the box, the brand promises seven years of OS and security updates, as well as regular Pixel Drop updates. Color options for the Pro models include Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain, and Obsidian.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold introduces a unique feature to the foldable space, as it is the first to feature a IP68 water and dust resistance rating on a moveable screen. With all of the durability improvements added to the foldable, Google claims it can support up to 10 years of folding. The device features a 6.4-inch outer display and 8-inch Super Actua Flex display, both with 3000 nits brightness. The foldable comes in two color options, Moonstone and Jade. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold includes the biggest battery ever featured on a foldable device at 5015mAh, with Google claiming it can last over 30 hours, and can fast-wired charge 50% in 30 minutes. The foldable also supports Pixelsnap Qi2-certified wireless charging up to 15W. Other hardware includes 16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of internal storage with Zoned UFS for the largest two options. Like the other devices, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold benefits from several AI features, such as Magic Cue, which assists you in identifying important tasks, activities, addresses, and more from your most used apps, including Gmail, Calendar, Screenshots, and Messages.
Price and availability
Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL will be available at Google Store and retailers August 28. The devices are currently available for preorder, with the Pixel 10 starting at $799, the Pixel 10 Pro starting at $999, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL starting $1199. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is also currently available for preorder and will go on sale on October 9. Google is also offering several discounts on the Pixel 10 series devices that preorder buyers and early adopters can take advantage of.
