Samsung's mid-year monitor refresh has something for everyone
You can pick a new screen for your work room or your living room and get in some gaming as well.
Samsung is updating its 2026 mid-year monitor lineup with interesting productivity and lifestyle options that cater to several consumer needs. The ViewFinity S8 and MovingStyle Essential are being announced alongside several gaming monitor options to round out the family, but these two models stand out due to their specific use cases.
I got a chance to go to the Samsung campus in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, ahead of their launch to check them out in person. Read on to check out my thoughts.
40-inch ViewFinity S8 (S85TH)
The 40-inch ViewFinity S8 monitor is marketed primarily as a productivity monitor; however, it includes specifications that allow it to double as a gaming accessory. The monitor is designed with a 1000R curve and features a 5K2K WUHD resolution display with a 21:59 aspect ratio and 144Hz refresh rate.
Yearly updates on the ViewFinity S8 include the addition of Thunderbolt 5 with 140 watt power delivery, which allows it to connect to other devices, such as a PC or laptop with a single cable. With this connection the monitor can support up to 80Gbps data transfer. Other I/O on the monitor include a built in Lan port, USB-C, USB-A, DP, and HDMI ports. It also supports built in KVM, as well as picture in picture and picture by picture display features, and Samsung display manager software. The monitor includes built in speakers and a height adjustable ergonomic stand that moves in tilt and swivel directions.
The ViewFinity S8 will sell with a one year warranty.
43-inch MovingStyle Essential
The 43-inch MovingStyle Essential is a lifestyle monitor Samsung has updated after the success of its 32-inch MovingStyle Essential, which launched in December. The brand took a 32-inch 4K M7 monitor and put it on a rolling stand. While cautiously optimistic about consumer feedback, Samsung was surprised to see the monitor sell out and struggle to remain in stock since its launch, the brand said.
The brand has now followed up with a larger 43-inch 4K UHD resolution model, which will sell at a lower price as a Samsung.com exclusive. The 43-inch MovingStyle Essential has several tweaks to make it more cost effective, while still being and upgrade. It includes a longer cable and does not feature a battery pack or a TV tuner like the original model. The MovingStyle Essential comes in two versions, a stationary TV version and one with a handle that allows you to detach the monitor and carry it around like a tablet.
The monitor is supported by a height-adjustable stand and can move on a tilt. It also has wheels, allowing it to move throughout a space with ease. Samsung has marketed MovingStyle Essential to consumers with small living areas, such as apartments. Users can access popular streaming apps, Samsung Gaming Hub, which allows you to connect to third-party gaming accounts via Wi-Fi, and other experiences known to Samsung TVs.
The 43-inch MovingStyle Essential will be available starting at $899. Samsung will be offering a $50 gift card when you sign up to learn more about the monitor.
